Men used to travel by donkey or on foot outside the village to work their own land or on someone else's. Women also worked outside the village, picking olives, harvesting grain, but mostly stayed at home carrying out domestic tasks. Men socialised in the evening in cafes; women socialised at home, often going on evening visits to relatives or neighbours.
