1986 Res 4B Anafi in September, after the festival

Many changes had taken place on the island after the electricity generator had been installed in 1978 and the harbour jetty had been altered for steamers to land passengers and cargo directly. Migrants with capital were opening cafes and restaurants (often only in the summer months) and villagers were renovating rooms and storehouses (a less expensive strategy) to rent to domestic and foreign tourists. Older migrants were returning to the island to live in their old village houses most of the year, now they could bring refridgerators, freezers and televisions with them. other urban imports were marble graves and ceramic headstones in the cemetery.
